Alaska Native Medical Center Master Plan

Anchorage, AK

Site Workshop and NBBJ currently working with the South Central Foundation to develop a pedestrian Master Plan for their Alaska Native Medical Center campus in Anchorage. The Master Plan will inform on-going development to create a cohesive and pedestrian-friendly campus that is integrated into the surrounding community. Guidelines for the phased implementation of improvements address pedestrian, automobile, transit and delivery movements on campus, as well as wayfinding, signage and lighting. An underlying goal of the Master Plan is to establish a clear campus identity that reflects the local Native cultures and natural environment. The 75-acre campus is currently home to a regional hospital, offices for the Centers for Disease Control, various health clinics and short-term housing for Native patients and their families. The Master Plan is scheduled to be completed in March, 2010.
