1616 Eastlake
Seattle, Washington
As a mixed-use project consisting of an office/retail tower and a bank, the 1616 Eastlake project is an important infill for one of Seattle’s most independent neighborhoods. The primary site planning objectives were: to establish a graceful transition on a site with a high degree of slope; reinforce the visual connection between groves of surrounding conifers and new planting at the perimeter of the site; ensure the flexibility of open space and multiple use of vehicular areas for neighborhood events; enhance the pedestrian environment in the form of an entry plaza, courtyards, sidewalks and seating areas; provide a secure night time environment by way of dramatic lighting and open sight lines.
An array of elements such as special paving, low seat walls, sculptural signage, a trellis/green wall and pedestrian oriented auto court that translates into a neighborhood framework that makes this project a meaningful addition to the urban quality of the Eastlake community. |
