Derrick is motivated by the responsibility that comes with being a landscape architect.  He is thankful to be able to contribute to a field that is at the forefront of critical planning and strives to ensure quality of life for future generations. The reach of the profession inspires him, and he hopes to leave this world a better place through his work.

As a dual national of both Switzerland and the United States, Derrick draws inspiration from his European ties and observation of how another culture has thrived living in a very small space for a very long time.  He enjoys designing spaces in the public realm, as it provides an opportunity to visit sites and share them with friends and family, long after the project finishes.

Die Hard and Jurassic Park fit in Derrick’s top three movies of all time. A Tacoma resident, he also enjoys spending time on his farm in Sequim; a place that provides an opportunity to work with his hands and explore landscape architecture to its fullest.
