Michael developed an interest in drawing and design in the art classes he took while growing up in Chicago. He later attended Colorado State University, where he earned his degree in landscape architecture. It was at CSU that he learned to design by emphasizing the relationships between nature, society and design. Upon graduating Michael moved west to San Francisco where he found an abundance of inspiration for multiple disciplines of design, something he is thankful for so early in his career. Recent travels placed him in South East Asia, primarily Laos, where Michael’s perspective on materials used in construction practices changed in that time, he now has a greater appreciation for materials. Working on a range of projects at Site Workshop, Michael has developed a reputation for clever construction details, thorough documentation and compelling graphics.
Much of Michael’s free time is spent outdoors, skiing, climbing or running.
