Seattle Children’s Hospital provides pediatric care to children and their families, regardless of their financial circumstances, throughout the Pacific Northwest and West. Building Care is the second phase in a three-phase project, which began with Building Hope in 2010.

At the space created between the new Building Care addition and the existing River Building, Site Workshop designed a shady and peaceful place reminiscent of a forest floor. Lush plantings from the forest understory line the walkways and emerge from between the pillars of the building canopy. Granite stones form a set of informal seats next to the stairway, presenting a place for a quiet conversation or moment away from the stress of pediatric intensive care.
