UW Conibear Shellhouse

Client: University of Washington
Partner: Miller Hull

Site Workshop led the site planning and landscape architectural scope for the Conibear Shellhouse renovation and addition
on Lake Washington. To contribute to the “Athletic Village” vision for this part of the UW campus, the landscape design provides
gathering spaces and pedestrian links to surrounding amenities. An entry plaza, with site walls and lawns provide seating areas
to reinforce the pedestrian experience. The entry plaza incorporates a wide ramp to provide integrated, universal access to the
building. The planting reinforces the site edges and enhances the view along the Lake Washington wetlands and adjacent shoreline.
A bioswale treats the roof storm water run-off before it enters the wetlands as part of the University’s commitment to sustainable
design.
