Washington State University's Academic Center at Everett Community College (EVCC) is the first phase in the development of a master plan of several buildings. As a catalyst for future growth, this project brings much needed STEM facilities to the region, providing an identity for WSU in North Puget Sound. The building’s form and orientation, on axis with the existing EVCC campus to the west and parallel to Broadway, allowed opportunities for dynamic indoor/outdoor open spaces to the north and south. The “Work Court” extends laboratory facilities to the outdoors, providing opportunities for events and seamless access for expected large equipment. “Main Street” to the south extends EVCC’s main pedestrian walk to the new east campus and provides a corridor for on-site stormwater management.
