Kiwanis Methow Park
Client: The Trust for Public Land and the City of Wenatchee
Partners: FiveDot
Completed: 2020
Site Workshop formed a relationship with TPL and the local Wenatchee community with the shared goal of transforming Kiwanis Methow Park into a truly great public destination. Located in south Wenatchee, this predominantly Latinx neighborhood has been under-served by urban park amenities. Site Workshop supported TPL in leading a robust participatory community design process to enhance programming at the site and make the park a central place for recreation, community events and gathering. A “kiosko” pavilion, based on Mexican precedents, will offer seasonal use for music, dance and gatherings, and be an icon for the neighborhood. The design aims to define a strong sense of place by reflecting the local culture, celebrating mountain views, and embodying the natural beauty of the region.
