Mountlake Terrace Elementary serves a diverse population of students from 23 different countries. Working closely with the school’s Design Review team and student council members, the site design provides a richly layered mix of outdoor learning and play experiences sculpted into the site’s varied topography. Fresh and creative facilities for this 21st century schoolyard include storage for 40 bicycles, a loop trail system and pump track; gaga ball courts; community gardens; an entry green for neighborhood events; embankment slides and nature play zones.
