Seattle Girl's School

Client: Seattle Girls' School
Partner: Mahlum

One of the primary design goals for Seattle Girls' School is to amplify the feeling of student ownership, creating a place of belonging and exploration. A series of outdoor spaces and courtyards build connection and collaboration at multiple scales, and are adaptable to different programming needs. Additionally, a community space that is big enough for the whole school to come together is an important aspect of the design and helps to foster an environment of student awareness around being part of something larger. Accessibility and a rich indoor/outdoor connection are also key to the design, and support wellness and movement for all students, access to nature, and a visible commitment to sustainability.
