The new Spruce Elementary School in Lynnwood serves a diverse and growing population of over 500 students at the northern edge of the city. With the goal of creating a green arrival sequence from street to play yard, this H-plan building is carefully sited  on an existing upper terrace tucked within an canopy of mature conifers. Playful courtyards, active and creative play zones wrap between and around the classroom and commons wings, offering many types of play experiences for this K-6 population and the larger community.
